SFS February and Froggie

Month: February
Spent: $18.79
Earned: $8.00

I was about to have another $0 month for SFS and then I finished Frog...Which means I had to start a new project and since the lovely black fabric that Leonore gave me arrived THAT DAY, I. of course, had to start Magical’s ornaments of which I was missing one colour, I could have substituted but I wanted some silver metallic for it as well.  So knowing the zero was going away, I checked in with what I’m doing after the ornaments and sure enough I needed floss there as well, so I stocked up, and almost did the budget in,  I’ll try to behave next month….. But don’t count on it. I have two raises coming up and I will probably celebrate.

So I finished my Haida Frog this week thanks to the curling. He was a wonderful project, very easy which made him a nice foil for Cindy. He also has purpose, he is my entry for the Stitching Pirates Tribal contest, as I judge I can’t win, but I can participate. He also qualifies for Carla’s Tons of Tiny and he’s my first finish of the year, that’s a lot to lay on a tiny frog.

He is 6 1/5 by 5” on 28ct even weave, wasn't planning on doing him on white, but that’s what I had available at the right size, and he is completely a stitch from stash piece, of the four colours called for I only had two, how does that always happen? But I just changed the shade of green a bit and used red instead of rust, which I prefer anyway, and the pattern was a gift from Carla so no shopping was needed at all.

Cindy didn't get a lot of work, but I did manage to finish all the blue on the dress. Once I get some actual days off it won't take long to finish the page.

And as said I started the ornaments, the silver is much shinier than shows
here, it's blending filament not metallic and super shiny and just as annoying, but pretty, I'm thinking of squaring off all the months with the silver so I can get right to the ornament every month.

As for what I watched,
Doctor Who E02 E05

The 100 S01 E02-04

Table Top - it seems I’m in the mood for this again, starting all over from the beginning.

The Westminster Dog Show - We didn’t get it live but it did show up a couple days later, during the curling, so I taped it, always enjoy watching all the breeds, but this year the Best In Show was a dog that is from a little town less than 20km away, they are talking about throwing it a parade.

The Tournament of Hearts - Canadian Women’s Curling Championship

Coyote Ugly - It’s silly but still a lot of fun, and has good music, which
will forgive any holes in the “plot”

Cool Runnings - The fictionalized story of the Jamaican Bobsled team,  great fun and I remember well the buzz around the team at the Calgary Olympics.

Same Old

It wasn't really a stitching week for me, it was an OMG I’m so busy at work due to Valentine’s Day week.
Well, that and a Fish and Game Banquet that wanted  5 huge cakes and gave me free range for decorating, so much fun,  weeks like this are great.
I've also been in such a mood to buy stuff, so much so that I'm almost afraid to go look at my wishlists, cause if I do, it will be bye, bye budget.
So still working on Cindy’s dress, but it’s getting closer to being filled in
And I’m on the last colour of Froggie, love this one.

As for what I watched,
Doctor Who S02 E01-E04

The 100 S01 E01-E03 - Thought I’d try a new show and this one was on my Netflix list,  pretty good so far, kind of a cross between Battlestar Galactica and Lord of the Flies.

Cinderella - The Disney animated classic, it’s my mother’s favorite movie.

Jupiter Ascending - I really enjoyed this it’s a good solid sci-fi movie and surprisingly not based on a book, I really hope it does well enough to get the sequels that it left room for.

Kismat Konnection - Netflix has several Bollywood movies and they tend to be a
lot of fun, this is a cute Rom/com that takes place in Toronto, and they sure highlight the city beautifully

Cats - The musical, one I’ve never seen it live, though I’d like to.

WIPocalypse February

The WIPocalypse question of the month is
How do you overcome that feeling that you’re in a rut with a particular project?

It’s twofold for me, I always have two things on the go, so the quick answer is just to start working on the other.  But sometimes I find it’s enough to switch shows, if I’m binge watching  a series I’ll just switch over to some movies or vice versa.

I had hoped to finish this pages section of  the dress this week, but as has been all this year, work, and chauffeuring Mom and Dad got in the way, I felt that I had made no progress until I looked at last weeks shot.

The frog got it’s usually Jeopardy watching time and little else.

As for what I watched,

The Kittens of Oz - Have now been adopted out as of today, I'm going to miss watching the little darlings, but at least they all have facebook pages now.

Doctor Who  - The Christmas Invasion - The first with David Tennent, he makes such a good doctor.

Glee S02 E10-12

Constantine S01 E10-11

Twelfth Night - Out theatre is showing three Shakespeare productions from the Globe theatre this year, the first was Twelfth Night, my all time favorite play, so of course I had to go. And it was marvelous,. This version was done as close to the way it would have been done in the 1600’s, musical styles and instruments, fabrics, makeup and costumes and most especially, an all male cast. Stephen Fry made a wonderful Malvolio and the men playing the women’s rolls were fantastic. And of course I now want to start my music cross stitch pattern as the quote on it is from Twelfth Night.

Casino Royal - Daniel Craig is not my favorite Bond but the movies are excellent, more about that on the next one I watch cause I have one serious problem with this movie.  I read the first 6 or so Bond books nearly 25 years ago, now I am well aware the only similarity between books and movies is the title, but this one follows at least the bare bones basic plot line, with one exception,  Bond plays Baccarat, this whole book was about baccarat, I learned how to play reading the book, and in the movie it’s Texas Hold’em, that's just wrong in so many ways.

Calamity Jane - Just as the “B”s had a lot of British movies, “C:”s have a lot of musicals, starting with this long time favorite, I think I inherited my love for Howard Keel from my mother. He’s amazing.
