March SFS

So for the first time, I went over budget

Amount Spend:* $31.46
Amount Earned $4.00

New Starts from Stash: The Music/Shakespeare Sampler from Maria Diaz Designs
WIPs or UFOs worked on: Stroke of Midnight,
Finished: Milton Bear, and semi finished three of Magical's ornaments, I'll count them when they are finish finished.

The reason for the splurge was that I had a raise, a good chunk of overtime, and my holiday pay come all at once, it seemed like a good time to spend some money for fun.
So I bought,
Two Pako Needle Organizers, which arrived yesterday and I'm already in love with, luckily they don't count in the budget
but I also got a pattern, beads for Cindy, a bunch of floss and some perforated paper to try
That all arrived Friday, then on Monday a parcel from Carla showed up including a ton of beads and awesome needle minder, some scissors, patterns and all sorts of fun stuff that counts not at all as it was a gift. When she cleans out her stash, she is serious about it.
Two days of parcels, it's been a good week
And if that wasn't' enough, my fabric of the month came today

This is IHSW, and if I can convince my computer to like me, I will be joining the monthly hangout any minute now, I skipped last month, so the ‘puter better start behaving.
I finally had a quiet week at work, with lots of days off, so stitching commenced so well, that I pulled a muscle in my arm somehow, I can not explain this turn of events, and I don’t care, I’m stitching anyway.  Was going to go to a waterfall yesterday, but the weather became all blah and soggy, so maybe another attempt on Monday.
So with this time, I worked more on Cindy, almost finished this page other than the one over one, which I’ll do when all the pages are done.
And I sort of finished Magical’s ornaments, still have to put them together, just waiting for the right inspiration.
And I started the Maria Diaz design of Music. I’ve being dying to start this one, as it incorporates music and a quote from my favorite play. This has been my curling piece this week and is going much faster than I expected
As for what I watched.

Table Top - Including the uncensored Cards Against Humanity episode, could not stitch during this one as I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Doctor Who S03 E02-04 Turns out Torchwood isn't on Netflix, so on to the Martha season, she’s not my favorite companion,  she was always too jealous of Rose to be an enjoyable character, but there are some wonderful episodes within this season.

Curling - Women’s World Championships

Center Stage - Always a favorite, I love how they used  world class ballet dancers instead of actors, the acting is a bit iffy because of it, but they move right, even when they aren’t dancing.

Center Stage 2: Turn it Up - Not much of a sequel really but still a good dance movie.

A Change of Place - Kim, an art history student, takes the place of her twin
sister who is in rehab, to go to Paris as a model, if this sounds like the plot of a romance novel, that is because it is.  But I’ll let you in on a secret, I love romance novels and happy endings.

Cinderella - The new Disney one, is was so fun and charming and just what Cinderella should be.

Tons of Tiny - March

Being a BAP person, I knew I wouldn't have a lot for Carla’s Tons of Tiny, but then I figured I’d have 4 this week, but only ended up with one finish, work, once again, intervened.  But I did finish cute little Milton from the World of Cross Stitching Magazine #201.
Which means I move back to Magical’s ornaments tomorrow. And there’s more curling on to stitch to, Women's Worlds has started.
I did manage to catch a couple afternoons for movies and stitching, so there was progress on Cindy.  I have now put stitches into the bottom row of the page, which is also the bottom of the pattern, happy dance ensues.
As for what I watched

Tabletop

Doctor Who S02 E10 to S03 E01 - A brief glimpse of Donna before the Martha season starts. Might switch to Torchwood as it’s first season slots in here somewhere.

Candleshoe - Disney had a lot of this family movies in the 70’s that I really enjoyed, but his is my favorite, Jodi Foster is a young con artist that pretends to be a missing heir in order to find treasure, of course it all ends happily ever                                                       after.

Catch Me If You Can - The fictionalized account of con artist and cheque forger Frank Abegnale Jr.  I read an article about him 20 years ago or more, which I remembered about half way through watching this the first time.

March WIPocalypse

March WIPocalypse:  Topic: If money – and time – were not limiters, what projects would be on your stitching bucket list?
I love big things so time is more needed than money, I actually have several must have patterns, and HAED patterns aren't expensive I just haven’t got one yet because of that pesky time thing. But since money is part of the equation I would love to get a Chatalaine whose kits are pricey (as they should be),  especially this one: Dragonfly Lace Mandala

I have determined that work and cross stitching don’t go together well, unfortunately I need one to pay for the other. Needless to say it’s been a busy week. Hours are likely to be cut soon, I’ll enjoy the free time, but miss the really nice paycheck.
I didn’t get a lot done on Cindy,
But I finished January and February of Magical’s ornaments, just getting the pattern now for March. I did start a teeny tiny thing while waiting but I’ll wait till it’s done before I get a  picture.  So I should have four finishes  next week

As for what I watched,
 Table Top

Tiny Kittens - They are back with an all new adorable litter.

Doctor Who S02 E06-E09

Clueless - Modern day high school remake of Jane Austen’s Emma that works fabulously well. So vapid and yet, so fun.

Chocolat - I seem to have a lot of movies where the quirky or rebellious  stranger
comes to a repressed town  and changes everything for the better, this is one of them.

The Brier - Canadian Men’s curling championship.

Calendar Girls - The based on true story of a bunch of women from the Women’s Institute that decided to make a nude calendar to raise money to buy a chair for the waiting area of the local hospital and became a world wide sensation. It’s another fantastic British movie.
