June WIPocalypse

Time for a very late WIPocalypse update. June's question is
Do you find yourself more productive with stitching in summer or winter?

I’m definitely more productive in winter, I stay in and watch movies more then, also I’m obsessed with the Tour de France, (which starts on Saturday YAY!!!) and it’s hard to stitch through that as the scenery is what first drew me to the race.
So not as much stitching done in July and August is the Olympics and there’s apparently a stitching challenge for that that I will have to think about.
Mulan is coming right along, the skirt is blocks of colour, so faster to do, but less exciting.

Hedwig birth announcement barely got touched until today but here’s a little progress anyway.

As for what I watched. I actually managed to get to the theatre a couple times lately, with the change of my hours (4am being the latest I start) I can’t really get to the evening shows and still function.  However it’s really easy to go to matinees. It’s just our smallish town only has weekday matinees when there is no school so I’m good now for the next couple months, and Independence Day is next on my must see list.

Critical Role

Daredevil S01 E07-13 Great show, glad the second season is already available, but first

Jessica Jones S01 E01-03 More of a noir thriller but set in the Marvel universe, can’t wait to see where this is going

Ever After - A wonderful retelling of Cinderella without the fantasy
elements

Finding Dory - I worry about sequels sometimes, but no need to worry about this one, so much fun

Warcraft - To start, I don’t play video games, don’t own any systems, but have
a  very vague knowledge of the Warcraft universe, but there aren’t enough high fantasy movies out there so I’m willing to try anything, and this was a very satisfying way to spend the evening, I hope there is another one as the ending leaves it wide open for sequels.

Quick update

I guess it’s time for an update, I can’t believe at the beginning of the year I thought I might be able to do three projects at once, one per each room I stitch in. Life decided I couldn’t do that.  Thanks to a much earlier start time in the work schedule (1am and 2am starts) I no longer get to watch Jeopardy most nights as I need sleep. So very little Jeopardy stitching will get done,  therefore upstairs project has had to move downstairs to be my movie project stitching. Said stitching is the just started Hedwig birth announcement

Mulan is moving along well, I’ve gotten to the large block sections, quicker going, but not as interesting to do, I seem to be made for complicated patterns

As for what I watched.
Critical Role

Gilmore Girls S01 E19-21 S02 E01-02

Daredevil S01 E01-06 - The good Neflix series, not the movie that should have been better

Up - A really fun adventure that starts with one of the greatest cinematic love stories.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory - Bad guys hijack a train, they picked the wrong one as Steven Segal was a passenger.

Now You See Me 2 - Should have been called Now You Don’t, wasted opportunity there. Twas good, didn’t have the magic of the first but still really good for an uncalled for sequal.

El Dorado - I’m not a big western person, but Mom, Dad and my brother are so I watched a lot growing up, And this one is one of my favourites, typical western story line, ranchers against the big bad rich outsider that wants to buy up all the land. Also it was the beginning of my celebrity crush on James Caan.

This Time Last Year

It is once again time for WIPocalypse and this month’s question is

What were you stitching this time last year and have you finished it?

Last year I was of course stitching my beloved Cindy, which is now finished, framed, given to mom and hanging on her wall.  I was also working on Music, which is also finished, framed and hung and even won second prize at the fair last year. Framed picture here are why I always do my finished pics unframed, that glare just defeats me every time

I had another finish, this lovely little Mill Hill Nativity that will be given to my Sister in Law for her birthday in September, along with an angel I haven’t started yet.
But first a new birth thingy for her son’s new son, pattern is picked and will probably be started tomorrow.
I’ve also made quite a bit of progress on Mulan

As for what I watched.

Critical Role

Supernatural  - Season 11 Finale - Carry On My Wayward Son!!

Gilmore Girls S01 E01-  I always meant to watch this and never got around to
it, I guess it was time.

U-571 - I don’t have a lot of war movies, but I’ve always enjoyed this one, it does have every military movie cliché going, but still a good ride.

Quick Update

This is just a quick update as nothing much has been happening, The only new thing is I joined a craft challenge on Tumblr that is called 30 for 30 crafting, Essentially promise to do your craft for at least half an hour a day and post daily progress shots. It's been fun, My Tumblr
So here is the progress on Mulan
And the Nativity
As for what I watched

The Librarians - End of Season one and All of Season two - Caught up now, but watching this always makes me want to binge watch Leverage
Critical Role - Over three hours of just combat this week, it was very stressful.
Geek and Sundry 24 hour charity stream on Table top day - Couldn’t watch most of this as it streamed due to work so watching the VOD instead

Star Wars - It was May the forth so Mom put this in, the original, like on VHS that she bought over 20 years ago, probably should replace this but don’t want all the updates, can’t we just enjoy it as is should be (Han shot first)

April WIPocalypse

It is once again time for WIPocalypse and this month’s question is

What do you listen to while stitching?

Movies, TV, Web series, you name it. I watch it while stitching, unless it‘s subtitled, can‘t stitch while reading unfortunately., and the Movie Project documents it all.

We had a IHSW hangout last week and it was so amazing as all 6 of us were actually all on AT THE SAME TIME we’ve never managed to do that before, as a result I got a lot done on Mulan this week,
and I have started a little Mill Hill nativity, the first time I’ve worked on paper, it’s kind of cool

As for what I watched.

Critical Role Role - 50TH EPISODE

Supernatural  S11 E17-18 Finally caught up again

The Librarians - S01 E01-08 Since I caught up to Supernatrual I figured either Doctor Who or the Librarians were next, The Librarians won and I decided to rewatch the first season as well.

Titan’s Grave - Rewatch complete ready for next season now

Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog - This is what happens when really creative people get bored. I find it amusing  that you can buy the DVD despite the fact that it’s always been free online, and we all do because it's so fun.

Dune - This film from 1984 is a perfect example of style over substance, it is a truly beautiful movie and even 30 years later the special effects hold up well. But for such a dense source material the story is missing.  They got such a host of brilliant actors and then gave them nothing to work with. The dialogue is stilted and repetitive.  I didn’t buy this movie it was a gift, but worth the watch just to see how pretty it is.

And this completes the letter D.  Now onto U.

Final Ornaments

I finally finished the Magical Ornaments project, mostly because of curling, it’s really easy to stitch through.  I only did one of each month not all the extras ones though they may get done as biscornus or gifts when I need them as they are all so pretty.  I had originally thought of using them as stocking gifts for Christmas, but my mother has fallen for them and insists that all 12 need to be on our Christmas tree next year.
October November and December
Ready to be finished
All together

October
November
December
Mulan is still going strong as well. I also have a super secret project on the go, but it is likely to remain a secret so forget you ever read this.

As for what I watched.

Critical Role - Not live unfortunately the last couple weeks, early start time for work got in the way

Titansgrave - rewatch!!!!! This was my gateway drug to Critical Role

Men’s World curling Championships - YAY CANANDA

Supernatural - S11 E13-16  Catching up on my boys, can’t believe I go so far behind.

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood -  I don’t usually go for the “My mother ruined my life” melodramas, but this one has Sandra Bullock and Maggie Smith in it, And just the right amount of humour as well.

Doom - Based on the game, which should just make it silly, but in truth there is a pretty good sci-fi story amongst all the violence. And honestly you can’t go too wrong when you have both The Rock and Karl Urban

Another Finish

March was very good to me finish wise, and I have one more to add to it, Finished the Duck and Friends baby thing on March 31st, it is now all framed up and ready to go.
I have also found the perfect design for my other nephew's new baby on the way.
Also have a good bunch done on Mulan the last couple weeks,

As for what I watched

Critical Role

Table Top

Shadowhunters S01 E10-11

Women’s & Men’s World Curling Championships

World's Figure Skating Championship

Insurgent - I think a lot was changed from the book but it’s been a couple years since I read it.

Allegiant - I know I lot was changed from this book, so much so I wonder where the next movie is going to go, but it was done in such a way that I’m really looking forward to finding out.
