My Happy Place

Vacation week has gone very well, I'm rested and happy and actually ready to go back to work. I don't think I realized how badly I needed to catch up on sleep.  Most of my vacation has been spent stitching and watching shows, and fighting with the computer chauffeuring my parents around to doctors appointments. The downside of the week was Mom coming down with an extremely swollen and sore foot, which turned out to be gout, hence me driving.
Cindy got a lot of work done, finished page 5 except for the dress trim, which I'm going to wait and do all of the trim, which is one over one, together.  I did all the face though also one over one, with help from Carla.  Instead of finding an expensive magnifier for the teenie tiny stitches, she recommended using cheap reading glasses over my own glasses, worked like a charm and only $1.25

Detail of face.

But the highlight of the week was the day long drive to Yoho Park in the Rockies,  it wasn't a new drive, we've done this every 5 or 10 years since I was a kid, but the road ends at Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada's highest and quite simply my happy place, I could spend hours just staring at the power and beauty of the falls.
My happy place, 384m (1259ft) of waterfall

What I watched this week was.

Robotech : The Invid Invasion.  Also known as the New generation.  Never quite sure if I like this one or the first more Yes, the whole series.

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles - Takes place during and just after the last episode of the Invid Invasion,  a nice add on movie that was done years later. I suspect they were hoping to reboot the series.  A lot of characters that were only in the books though, so unless you’ve read them, (I have) it may be a tad confusing.

Downton Abbey S01 E02-04
Teen Wolf S04-E10
Outlander S01-E03
Witches of East End S02-E07

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel  - It’s got Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and Bill Nighy how can you go
wrong.

Billy Elliot - As well as being a fantastic movie, the end sequence always makes me tear up a little.

Black Beauty - I never intended to own this, and have never seen it before, but to
get a favourite movie of mine I had to buy, or in this case, be given a 4 pack of horse movies. I think I’m glad, I rather enjoyed this.

August SFS and Vacation

So hell week at work that was more like hell month, is finally over, and my vacation begins.  Some good things came out of the insanity of the last month,  I got lots of overtime which will make up for the week off I've got now.  I finally figured out how to work with my new boss without going nuts.  it usually doesn't take me this long to figure people out, but after two weeks of working with only him it clicked and I know that while he will no doubt annoy me at times, I can happily work with him now.  Also we have a replacement for old new guy, two girls this time and they both seem competent. and I get to joke that they needed two people to replace me while I'm on holidays.
So expect to see lots of stitching from me this week as my plans include that and waterfalls, and that's it.

For SFS I made a Micheals run and picked up some needed things. And then, yes damn it, I bought a patter, it's Facebook's fault for having cross stitching groups and showing me pretty things.  And this was music, and Twelfth Night, I couldn't resist, and in all honesty I have no idea what size it is yet. Also thanks to Leonore who found where I could buy it.
So my total was
Floss $3.50
Needles $3.14
Stickers $3.14
Pattern $5.65
__________
 Total $15.43

No work was done on the Cabin, but Cindy saw some, I'm getting a lot of colour on the dress now.

As for what I watched.
Robotech: the Masters E14-24.  This is my least favorite of the Robotech series but still enjoyable, kind of slept through a couple though.

Outlander E02 - Still enjoying this, hope it remains well done.

Witches of East End S02-E06
Teen Wolf  S04 - E07 to 09  Finally caught up again.

Downton Abbey, S01-E01 Everyone I know loves this, so I had to give it a try, I love British shows and this is no exception

So much for routine

First is was the home invasion of relatives, then Gishwhes and just when I though I could get back to normal hell week at work happened. Now part of it we knew about in advance, it's August, it's busy, we have 3 people plus a new guy that's still training when we need about 4 full time this time of year.  So one of the three was going on a two week vacation, we knew that, hence the new guy, but then new guy quit. ACK that means two of us for two weeks, and then just to make things more interesting, the third guy bashed his knee open and has to take 4 days off,  leaving, you guessed it, me. It got sorted out, vacation started a day late, old boss was brought in for a day and I got overtime, but it didn't make for a calm week, naps were needed, so stitching was once again on hold. Next week should be mildly calmer, though I'm getting more overtime. and the week after - VACATION.  Staycation really, plan on seeing a lot of stitching from me that week, and maybe even waterfalls.
Did get some done though, here's the cabin
And look, Cindy has hair, even did some of the one over one stitches, just because I never have before and wanted to try it, it will help me decide on fabric for later projects. Going to leave the rest for the end though.
What I watched was this.
Robotech : The Masters E07 - 13

Into the Storm - I’m mentioned my thing about disaster movies, right? I go without even paying attention to who’s in it. So I got a lovely Richard Armitage surprise,  Thing got destroyed and the hero was hot. What else can I ask for.

Outlander - E01 - TV series based on a paranormalish historical romance book that I haven’t read, but several friends recommended the show so I tried it, and enjoyed.

Witches of East End - S02 E05 They let Jenna Dewan Tatum dance in this one.

Bend it Like Beckham - And finally the return of the Movie Project, and even on my nice new pretty TV and what a way to restart this movie is brilliant, one of my all time favorites.

Gishwhes

My Friday blog is late because of the madness known as Gishwhes (The Greatest Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen). This is my fourth year playing and I have the Guinness certificate to prove it.
The hunt was wonderful, but between work and Gishwhes, not a stitch of stitching got stitched. and very little got watched, I worked with a wonderful team that included our own Carla and fellow stitcher Shiloh and we were joined by a group from Florida, Missouri and somewhere else in the U.S. that I can't think of right now.
My favorite item from the week was this mosaic of an Elopus (the Gishwhes mascot) Though my mother loves my mugshot .

And in an unrelated note, I went shopping, bought a $135 coat for $18, yay me. And on the same day I watched a forest start to burn, such is the hazard of living in B.C.

As I said I didn't watch much, just
Robotech: The Masters E01-06

Gaurdians of the Galaxy - Go see it, don’t even question me, just go see it.

Alone at last, sorta

It's official, all of my company have left, however it's hot out, so now Mom and Dad have stolen my watching room with the new TV because that room is cooler, and I'm still in the computer room with the slowly dying computer. The poor old thing does not like watching live feed on You Tube and keeps crashing, I've had to bring in my baby laptop and watch on there instead.
Other than having to work 6 days this week due to someone calling in sick, it's been an uneventful week. But next week should be wonderful chaos as it is GISHWHES week, Carla and I and the rest of the team of 15 with be getting our creative juices flowing as we do wild and wonderful things while breaking world records.  The list comes down tomorrow and I can't wait to see what we have to do.
With a quieter house stitching was possible; now my back up project usually gets ignored when Jeopardy is in reruns, but Mom found a cake show that we both like so Cabin has had some work done.

And I've been working on Cindy while watching the games .

Detail shot of the ridiculously pretty shawl
She seems to be going so fast with this page, and that shawl is so amazingly pretty, I love the way Teresa uses colours.

And I've been watching stuff now that the house is empty(ish) again

The Tour De France - and it’s over for another year.

Witches of Eastend S01 E09-10 S02 E01-04

Lucy - ……….. Well that was strange. Kind of like a strange cross of the Matrix and Akira in the style of Push. It was good, but I haven’t decided I liked it, ask me in a year or two.

Amazing Cakes. - I am not worthy

Most amusing finish ever.
Commonwealth Games - Found them live on You Tube, my sport obsession can continue

Robothech: The Sentinels - I HAVE MY TV ROOM BACK!!!!!! --- or not.

American Ninja Warrior - yeah, this might be a new obsession
