Month's end

It’s official, I will finish nothing this month, but that’s okay, work got in the way a lot which means more money for stitching supplies and/or movies. As of today, my boss is off work for minimum of 3 weeks, probably closer to 6. So 40 hour weeks for all of February, a month that I am usually begging for hours in, yay me.
A pretty/handsome visitor has shown up on the balcony for the last week, only at night and he's shy so pics are iffy, seems like a stray, but not a feral cat, he's very poofy so Mom has named him Puff.
I did get a lot of stitching done, Cindy’s dress is filling in beautifully

And I have started the red on the frog.

As for what I watched,
The Kittens of  Oz - Won’t be long now until they are all adopted out

Doctor Who S01 E07-12 + Doctor Who Confidential

Sleepy Hollow S02 E14

The Grand Budapest Hotel - I’m not really a fan of Wes Anderson movies, he’s a little to quirky even for me, but I do like to check out Oscar nominated movies and this turned out to be really fun and charming.

Cocoon - If you want to see a movie about seniors and benevolent aliens, this is the one to watch

The Imitation Game - Another Oscar nominee but I would have gone to this one anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will buy it when it comes out on DVD. Also this and The Grand Budapest Hotel have the same wonderful composer, who is nominated for both movies.

The Pirates of Penzance  - The 1980 stage musical starring Rex Smith and Kevin Kline, as opposed to the 1983 movie based on the stage musical, starring Kevin Kline and Rex Smith.

SFS January

It’s the first Stitch from Stash of 2015
January
Spent $0
Earned $0

Started, nothing but worked on whole bunches of stuff. This years SFS includes earning credit on your budget for finishes, but I didn’t finish anything this month, should have my frog done by next month though.
I also received my first shipment from the Silkweavers Fabric of the Month club (which does not count on SFS as it’s a subscription) and it’s gorgeous, I’m so glad I joined. I have enough patterns to last two lifetimes, and lots of floss, but I was woefully lacking in fabric, so I figured this would be the best way to build up a stash of it.
And for a bonus, the colour is perfect for my Angel of the Harvest, so perfect I’m tempted to bump it up THE LIST.
Thanks to IHSW I actually got some nice progress done on Cindy,
And the Frog has all his black, now just to put in the colour, one of the colours is listed as rust, but I think I’m going to make it red instead as that’s more common in Haida art.

As for what I watched,

The Kittens of Oz - Busy week for them, they got a visit from a school group and some of them got neutered.

Sleepy Hollow S02 E12-13 Winter season has begon

Constantine, S01 E09

Doctor Who S01 E06

Glee S02 E04-07Apparently I’m in the mood for this again

The Librarians S01- E09-10 This was the season 1 finale I really hope there will be
a season 2

Cinderella - The 1957 Rogers and Hammerstien version with Julie Andrews. Mom has so many versions, I’m not going to watch them all but it’s fun watch Cinderella while stitching Cindy.

IHSW recap

I finally got back to the hangout for IHSW it's been months since I was able to grab the time. So I got to have a good chat with Carla and Magical, the other's were unable to make it due to reasons :(. And I got quite a bit of stitching done on Cindy, the page 6 part of the dress is starting to take shape.

IHSW hopefully

In truth it’s been a quiet week, which after last week is a welcome change. This weekend is IHSW and I hope to hangout with the NCCIH crew at least a little. I have got some work done on Cindy and the Frog and I've napped,. Which means that this is a very short blog.

As for what I watched,

The Kittens of Oz  - They are soon going to be big enough to be adopted.

Jem and the Holograms - Truly outrageous
Doctor Who S01 E04-05

Return From Witch Mountain - An enjoyable sequel using the same kids, now teens. Tony gets kidnapped by thieves who want to use his powers for a heist, Tia to the rescue.

Cirque Du Soliel: We Reinvent the Circus. - Their first special, far more like a regular circus but you can see flashes of what they would become.

Cactus Flower - A girl (Toni)  tries to kill herself since her married boyfriend stood her up. Her hunky neighbor rescues her. Boyfriend is upset and promises to marry her as soon as he divorces his wife.  Since Toni is a nice person she wants to meet the wife and make sure she’ll be okay with the divorce.  Problem is there is no wife, boyfriend made her up to keep things simple.  Now he convinces his secretary to play the wife to reassure girlfriend, Hijacks ensue.  This is the one that won Goldie Hawn won the Oscar for, back in 1969

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies - Last week it’s playing in our theatre, so I had to take Mom

WIPocalypse and Snow

It’s my first ever WIPocalypse blog,  my friends have been involved for a while now, and I love the questions so I decided to join in. January’s topic is  “Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!”
So I’m Nancy, and on most social media sites I go by Katjakay, Why? Long story for another time, or not as it’s kind of boring. I live in the Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada where I make a living baking. I only have two project on the go at the moment, Theresa Wentzler’s Stroke of Midnight,
which I have affectionately renamed Cindy. I've been working on her for just over a year and hope to finish sometime in the summer. I usually have one BAP and one smaller project on the go, and at the moment the small is a lovely tribal frog,
only been working on this one a couple weeks, mainly while watching Jeopardy. I tend to keep track of time spent stitching by what I watched so my blog always includes my viewing selections of the week.
Goal wise, I plan to finish Cindy and start the Fractal (see THE LIST) and do bunches of small things, cause Carla told me to.

At for what I’ve been up to this week, just call it the most bizarre work week ever. Basically we are getting a whole new computer system at work and all the managers and assistant managers had to go for training, in Vancouver. The plan was to fly half on them there on Sunday night for training Monday and then fly home Monday night, with the other half leaving Monday. Which meant a fairly full week for me as I wasn’t going at all and got to cover the manager’s shifts, or that was the idea, cause then weather happened.
I pulled out of my garage Monday morning and stopped dead, not to move again for several hours due to 18 inches of snow. And I even have a good winter car, so I had to call in a snow day, my first ever including school, it’s not a common thing around here. But of the three people that were working in the bakery that day, only one managed to show up. The next day the planes were grounded so manager type people were stuck in Vancouver for two days, and the half that hadn’t gone yet, didn’t. And of the four people supposed to work that day, only two showed up, strangely the two (me included) that missed the day before.  So we had this massive dump of snow, that essentially shut down the region for nearly three days, but it sure is pretty.

As for what I watched,
The Kittens of  Oz

The Librarians - This just keeps getting more and more fun.

Jem and The Holograms - I loved this show as a teenager and it just showed up on Netflix, for a limited time at that, so I have to get my watching in quickly

Wimbledon - A great sports/romance, but I was almost guaranteed to like this one, I've been a fan of Paul Bettany’s since he was trudging naked in A Knights Tale.  Also this is the movie that introduced me to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, still a favorite actor of mine.

Wing Commander - One of a multitude of low(ish) budget sci-fi movies based on a game. I enjoyed this one, it’s not as campy as some and has likable characters.

Into the Woods - I went to this as it looked like a fun Disney fairy tale movie, I should have done my research and found that it was based on a Steven Sondhiem musical. Then I would have known to drag my mother along as well, since we both love musicals. This was a lot of fun.

Escape to Witch Mountain - The original from 1975, special effects are pretty good for the time, and I love the story, plus the kids are intelligent but not smart ass brats like they tend to be today.

Happy New Year

It’s a new year, and I think I’ve got everything updated, including The Movie Project, somehow I thought watching all my movies wouldn’t take that long, but going by last year, it will take me years to go through them all, and that’s assuming I don’t add any to them, which won’t happen, instead sales happen, and I can’t resist.. I have joined several SAL and assorted groups this year, including all the same ones as last year.
SFS  which I enjoyed immensely, I know I’ll have to splurge at least once this year to get the 18ct black aida for the fractal project when I finish Cindy,  I don’t really want Aida but 28ct over 2 would be toooooo big, over one would blind me, maybe 32ct, but black????? I’d need one hell of
a light.

TW 2015 is a continuation of Carla’s Theresa Wentzler SAL

TOT’s is Carla’s Tiny projects SAL I tend not to do tiny so this one will be a challenge.

DESIGN is Leonore’s  SAL to get people talking about the designers of our wonderful projects.

WIPocolypse  is a new one for me, I tend to not have many going at one time so I didn’t join before, but I love the questions asked.

IHSW - My first SAL that I joined and this awesome one lead to the friendships that became NCCIH.  I managed to miss the last two months of IHSW, no hangout for me, and work isn’t being kind for the next one either, my days off for the next month are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, not a Saturday to be seen.

But between the holidays and work I did sneak in a bit of stitching, as I creep down the page of Cindy I have to remind myself that when I hit the bottom of the page it will be the actual bottom, no more pages down, makes me feel so accomplished.
And the Haida Frog is just hopping along.

As for what I watched,

America’s Next Top Model, S21 E6-to end

Constantine S01 E8 - Must have been the fall finale, ended on two cliffhangers.

The Kittens of Oz - See above

White Christmas - A little late for Christmas, but it’s still the holiday
season.

42 Up - From 1998, two more of them to go.
